Bowl Potholders Tutorial

I thought I would do a small tutorial on how I did those potholders for bowls.
I cute 2 pieces of fabric 10.5 square. 2 pieces of cotton batting or insul bright 10.5 square. If you want to use these in the microwave use cotton batting. Insul Bright CAN NOT be placed in the microwave.
place the batting on top of fabric and draw an X  sew the X. This gives is some stability.

Next measure the middle which was 5.25  then 1 inch on either side   then 2.5 inch down. You can see the markings in the first picture.  Fold and make a dart.  Do this on each side.. there will be 4 darts total.
after sewing the dart   trim
place rights sides together and sew around the edge leaving a small space for turning.
trim off the corners
turns right side out,  either hand stitch the opening or stitch all way around the edge.
I like this size  it can fit different style bowls

sorry some pictures are blurry  not sure if it is the camera or me. But you get the picture. :)

Bowl Potholder

Everyone in my family knows that my hubby Tim LOVES ice cream. He can sit and eat a half gallon all himself if I would let him.   Years ago my mother took a trip to Mexico and saw this ice cream  bowl she brought it back for Tim.

Every time I get ice cream for him I wrap a dish towel around the bowl.  The bowl gets cold for his hands. I have seen these before on the Internet just never bothered to make it. My to do list is very long. You know how things just get put off. I had bought this pattern a few years back and had thoughts yep going to do this.  Again the project got put on the list.

Finally yesterday I got it done. I made a few changes . I knew this wasn't going to be put in the microwave so instead of cotton batting I used insul bright thinking it would hold the cold in protect his hands from getting chilled. I made it 10.5 inch square.  These were very easy to make. Now why didn't I make it before?

I made a few more

Forget Me Not Doily

I just finished my forget me not doily.  It was to have 2 rows of flowers.  But I miss counted and did the first row of flowers wrong. They are to have six petals not five. Grrrrr. That's what I get for not reading the pattern.  It still looks pretty. I am not going to throw it away. I will use it somewhere.

I decided to make my son on law some potholders. He is always taking my daughters outside when he grills. Then she doesn't have hers in the kitchen. Of course he takes the double mitt one, that is the one she uses alot.
Also in Liz ' s sew along it is kitchen. Perfect. I get to finish both.
I really wanted beer fabric. Bit I couldn't find any at Joann's. I did find this wine one

If I decide to use it on my round kitchen table I will block it . Right now it's 32 inches.

I am finally on the last row of this crochet along. Oh boy is this going to take a long time. Making these points is the last row. This is going to take a long time as I don't crochet fast.
See the one set of point on top. I have 15 more to do.
